Polonnaruwa

Bezoek de oude stad Polonnaruwa, de tweede grote hoofdstad van Sri Lanka. Loop door de ruïnes van de stad die bloeide tussen de 10e en 13e eeuw na Christus. Nationaal park Minneriya

Deze drie uur durende safari neemt je mee op een tocht door het Minneriya National Park. Sigiriya > Kandy

Sigiriya, het oude rotsfort

Beklim het rotsfort uit de 5e eeuw na Christus, Sigiriya, waar koning Kasyapa regeerde. Loop door de ingang, omlijst door de poten van een leeuw, die heel toepasselijk is voor zijn naam, 'The Lion Rock'. Bekijk de prachtige, onvervagende muurschilderingen die Sigiriya beroemd hebben gemaakt. Beklim de steile trap om de terrastuinen en nog steeds werkende stortbakken te zien. Loop door de tunnels die naar het paleis leiden en krijg een gevoel van lang vervlogen tijden.

Higlighting the culture, heritage and natural beauty of Sri Lanka, this short 2 day tour will take you to a number of interesting locations. First you will make a stop  in Polonnaruwa and marvel the ruins that once stood tall when the city was the capital of ancient Sri Lanka. The massive stone carved structures are the epitome of a great kingdom. You will then be directed to the Minneriya National Park where you will enjoy a three hour long safari. You will witness herds of Sri Lankan elephants roaming around in their natural habitat. You will end day 1 in Sigiriya.

Polonnaruwa

Visit the ancient city of Polonnaruwa, which was the second major capital of Sri Lanka. Walk through the ruins of the city that flourished between the 10th to the 13th century AD. View important monuments such as Gal Vihara, Vatadage, the lotus bath, Lankathilaka Temple and the statue of King Parakramabahu whose reign was considered the golden age of Polonnaruwa. Get to know more about Sri Lanka's ancient history.

Minneriya National Park

This three hour safari takes you on a ride through the Minneriya National Park. Enjoy the sight of over 150 elephants congregating in one place during the famous Great Elephant Gathering, which happens in the dry season between May to October. In addition to elephants, get a chance to also see many mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians in the scrublands, forests and other areas.

Sigiriya > Kandy

The second day you will journey to the ancient Rock Fortress - Sigiriya which is where an ancient King once ruled. This stone edifice which is close to 200 meters in height still displays ruins of the King’s palace, frescos, beautiful ponds and gardens as well as paths that lead to the structure in well preserved condition. Once you explore the ruins and gardens of Sigiriya, you can head back to Kandy with our guided chauffeur.

Sigiriya The Ancient Rock Fortress

Climb the 5th century AD rock fortress, Sigiriya, where the King Kasyapa ruled. Walk through the entrance framed by the paws of a lion that is quite appropriate for its name, ' the Lion Rock'. View the beautiful unfading murals that brought Sigiriya its fame. Climb the steep staircase to see the terraced gardens and still-working cisterns. Walk through the tunnels leading to the palace as you get a feel for times long past.
